Skype (News - Alert) for Business offers a convenient and cost-effective way for businesses to make the leap to the cloud. But while Skype offers a host of features for business users, it’s not always the easiest offering to deploy and manage within an enterprise setting. That’s where AudioCodes comes in, providing practical solutions that simplify Skype and Lync for IT personnel that don’t necessarily have a background in telephony.

Eric Bauer, VP of marketing and business development for AudioCodes, spoke to Gary Audin of Telecom Reseller at the recent Microsoft (News - Alert) Ignite event about how the company is helping to bring voice to the cloud. While AudioCodes supports a host of UC and contact center offerings including Avaya, BroadSoft (News - Alert), Genesis and Interactive Intelligence, the company was clearly focused on Skype for Business at the Microsoft event.

“Microsoft does a great job of building an ecosystem, but the ecosystem fills a lot of gaps,” said Bauer. “We understood that there were some gaps that Microsoft was intending to leave on the table to have partners like us fill. What we learned from that process is that simplicity is key.”

AudioCodes’ recently released User Management Pack 365 is one of the ways the company is bridging the gap to the cloud. The solution is part of the AudioCodes One Voice for Skype for Business portfolio and offers a simple and intuitive user interface for centralized control of user management, policy configuration and location determination.

The offering is designed to mask the complexity of Microsoft’s PowerShell scripting platform, enabling Level one IT personnel to easily manage and configure voice in the cloud. The solution is geared toward enterprises as well as resellers and VARs offering voice in the cloud as a managed service.

“You don’t need that highly skilled person that knows PowerShell,” said Bauer of the offering. “You can have a Tier 1 administrator do all your moves, adds and changes and do your configurations. So it really lowers the barrier to entry and reduces the overall cost in the organization.”

AudioCodes also showcased their Cloud Connector Edition Appliance at the Ignite event. The offering supports Microsoft’s vision of migration to the cloud, integrating a gateway and SBC with Microsoft Connector Edition to make it easy for organizations to connect to the cloud and set up their own PSTNs.

Telecom Reseller (News - Alert) is putting together a week of educational sessions at the upcoming ITEXPO East in Fort Lauderdale, FL in February. The event will focus on the latest technologies and trends and will be collocated with the ITEXPO (News - Alert) conference and exhibition.
