Avotus UC Usage Reporting Software Now Supports Skype for Business

As Microsoft’s Skype (News - Alert) for Business software continues to grow up and away from its predecessor, Microsoft Lync, so too must its attachments. Many third-party vendors have made valuable products that worked with Lync to assist and enhance its own native features. Therefore, they are intimately linked to the changes taking place in the Microsoft (News - Alert) universe.
One of these third-party developers, Avotus Corporation, has found success with its Enhanced Usage Reporting for Unified Communications software that manages businesses’ communications. It allows companies to track and record their voice, video, and text-based conversations for compliance with state and federal regulations, as well as regulations set by the markets that individual brands comprise. Avotus (News - Alert) announced that its EUR software is now fully compatible with Skype for Business, allowing for an automatic link between the two without lengthy configuration.
James Martino (News - Alert), the CEO of Avotus, commented on his company’s update:
“While UC implementation is streamlining the way we communicate and the way business gets done, these same tools can be used to sidestep firewalls and share confidential intellectual property, create legal liabilities, allow for noncompliance situations with regulatory agencies, and enable employee abuse,” Martino began.
“Enterprise customers can now simply deploy Skype for Business, in concert with our EUR for UC, mitigating these risks and protecting their communications environment and assets.”
The Avotus announcement goes into more detail about how EUR can assist various industries. Martino’s statement about intellectual property and legal liabilities highlight the bulk of what companies need to protect with their communications logs. Often, for example, legal firms can use their UC usage logs to inform legal proceedings. Likewise, healthcare providers must also comply with regulations such as HIPAA that require monitoring of communications in addition to safeguarding personal client information.
Companies can also help protect their own internal interests by logging screen shares and instant messages or the sharing of company assets through data transfers. The trail of data use will lead back to the users involved, so when business heads suspect a tampering of proper business actions, they can look to Avotus to provide such a trail.
Avotus has received recommendations for its use from various partners and clients over the years it has developed the EUR. Now it can continue that path with its support for Skype for Business, which affects millions of users worldwide as one of the most widespread communications platforms in use today.
