MindLink announced this week that it is partnering with VMware AirWatch (News - Alert) to provide global businesses with better data security. MindLink is a provider of Chat Enabled Collaboration (CEC) applications and is often thought of as a secure alternative to options like WhatsApp. It’s messaging and collaboration apps encourage employees to stay connected, thus reducing email usage, which can be hacked. Meanwhile, AirWatch is a provider of mobile device and application management (MDM/MAM) that allows companies to focus on inventive uses of mobile technology and grants them the ability for auto configuration, data containerization and secure tunneling to protect data. This partnering will hopefully make this alternative option even safer.

The result of this friendship is MindLink for AirWatch, which enables employees to securely collaborate using chat and messaging applications on their mobile devices. Meanwhile, the company has full policy controls to secure and manage corporate data and sensitive business information.

“MindLink for AirWatch supports our mission to provide highly secure and compliant chat applications to companies that want to combine mobility, collaboration and data security and provide their employees with the best corporate messaging tools available,” comments Harpreet Gosal, CTO at MindLink. “By partnering with AirWatch, we can bring a new security dimension to sharing sensitive information whilst away from the office.”

This new innovation allows employees to message and collaborate within a secure corporate environment; secure data transport, containerized access, encrypted at rest data; automate on boarding and configuration; support iOS devices within Airwatch; integrate with Microsoft Lync and Skype (News - Alert) for Business, thus strongly mobilizing the chat and messaging functionality within the Microsoft UC platforms.

It is targeted at companies with mobile workforces, regulated industries and sectors where meeting granular security policy controls and compliance regulations are essential. These industries include financial services, pharmaceutical, legal and government organizations, to name a few.

Ian Evans, VP of End-User Computing and AirWatch EMEA managing director, commented on this focus on mobile industries by saying, “In an era where we are seeing an unprecedented move towards a mobile workforce, and where security breaches happen with concerning regularity, keeping corporate data secure so that only authorized users on authorized devices can access company data is absolutely vital…MindLink's collaboration capabilities, combined with VMware Airwatch's mobile security expertise create a powerful proposition for organizations.”
