As enterprises deploy ever more complex communication platforms, choosing certified products and services ensures that the solutions will be delivered as promised without issues of compatibility across devices, systems and locations. The announcement by Sonus Networks that its entire portfolio of Session Border Controllers (SBCs) are Microsoft (News - Alert) Skype for Business certified gives the company yet another selling point for the enterprises and service providers it serves.

The Skype for Business Certification Program lets Microsoft customers identify third-party solutions that deliver high quality experience and compatibility when used with Skype (News - Alert) for Business. When a company receives the Certified for Skype for Business designation, it means it meets the highest specifications that have been outlined in the program. This is achieved after successfully completing and passing the specifications.

"As the first vendor to certify its entire SBC portfolio, Sonus provides a variety of choices designed to ease enterprise migration to Skype for Business for on-premises or Cloud PBX (News - Alert) in Microsoft Office 365," said Cary Hayward, Sonus senior director, Product Management.

Sonus is a global provider of secure and intelligent cloud communications, delivering access to powerful network devices while securing, simplifying and creating comprehensive real-time communications for Skype for Business deployments. The certification further extends its ability to deliver Microsoft related products and services.

The Sonus SBC 1000, SBC 2000, SBC 5000 Series, SBC 7000 and SBC SWe are certified SBCs with Microsoft Skype for Business. Additionally, the SBC 1000 and SBC 2000 received Microsoft certification for enhanced gateway support and Lync 2013 Survivable Branch Appliance (SBA) with Skype for Business.

There was further certification for enhanced gateway with Skype for Business, which allows small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) to continue using the optional embedded Lync 2013 SBA functions with Skype for Business by delivering real-time communications even if the Wide Area Network fails.

Real-time communications are becoming more important for enterprises as more devices are integrated and dispersed across wide geographical locations. With the right SBC and application, these large organizations can assure their communications platform will always be up and running.

The Sonus SBCs ensure multivendor interoperability, including analog endpoints with an effective demarcation point for the transcoding of media, network security, SIP interworking and intelligent call routing. It can be deployed between the server provider's network and the enterprise's on-premises Skype for Business deployment. This gives organization's total control and seamless integration when they are migrating to different deployments by providing on-premises PSTN connectivity with Cloud PBX in Microsoft Office 365.
