ClearOne UNITE 200 Offers Simultaneous USB, HDMI, IP Streaming

By Rory Lidstone - Contributing Writer

ClearOne (News - Alert) is a global company that designs, develops and sells conferencing, collaboration and streaming solutions for voice and visual communications. This week, the company launched a new multipurpose camera that can be used in maybe the widest possible range of applications possible for a home product. Called the ClearOne UNITE 200 PTZ Camera, the device is described as “superbly versatile” and “professional grade,” while still being available at a price significantly lower than competing models.

The ClearOne UNITE 200 PTZ Camera is an HD video camera that features USB (3.0 or 2.0), HDMI and IP connections. That range of connectivity options alone makes the device suitable for use on the desktop and in IP-based recording systems. What’s truly exceptional about this is that the UNITE 200 PTZ Camera’s connections can be used simultaneously or individually, granting it a level of versatility rarely seen in the market.

For a look at more of the latest in the communications space, ITEXPO is running this week, featuring some of the top leaders in the space presenting important ideas about the future of communications as part of the conference program.

"There is no camera on the market with this feature set for anywhere near this price," said Bala Krishnamoorthy, senior director, product line management for UC and Media Collaboration at ClearOne. "In fact, you would have to pay at least twice as much to get close to the same features in other products."

As just a USB camera, the ClearOne UNITE 200 PTZ can be used with any PC-based application, including Cisco Jabber and WebEx, Citrix GoToMeeting, Google (News - Alert) Hangouts, Microsoft Skype for Business, and ClearOne’s own Spontania. ClearOne acquired Dialcom Networks’ Spontania cloud-based technology in April 2014. The acquisition has enabled ClearOne to expand its enterprise video collaboration portfolio to meet the needs of enterprise, small to medium-sized business (SMB), healthcare and education customers, as well as others.

As an IP-only camera, the ClearOne UNITE 200 PTZ can be used to broadcast both audio and video signals y way of high quality, low bandwidth H.265 compression for purposes such as distance learning and overflow rooms. Finally, as an HDMI camera, it can be used for pro-AV applications as it offers full HD 1080p recording at 60 frames per second. It also features 12x optical zoom for close-up imaging.
